If there is one place in the world that I can move into – this would be it. But most likely, I would need to marry a sheikh or a prince for that to happen! (One can only dream……..)
Massive thanks to Laura for being the perfect travel buddy and for taking all of my photos!
I first visited the Palazzo Versace in the Gold Coast 8 years ago. I was meeting up with my friend Laura for drinks and we both vowed to return to this place someday to stay. I have since travelled to the Gold Coast many times since then, but it was only recently after 8 years that the opportunity opened up for me and Laura to return and stay at the Palazzo Versace.
As someone who suffers from major wanderlust syndrome, I frequently browse travel websites to compare hotel accommodation prices and look for special deals. As I was planning to visit QLD, I browsed through Gold Coast hotels on Booking.com and couldn’t help but notice that the price for the Palazzo Versace was a lot lower than what it normally went for. After speaking to the hotel staff, I realised that this was because it was not peak season for them. When I stayed there, the hotel was occupied at 60%, not the 80% that they normally aim for.
It normally costs about $600 – $700 minimum to stay in a standard room at the Palazzo Versace. The sale price was going for half of that amount! That is how much it would normally cost to stay at a hotel like Crown Perth – and there is no way that Crown Perth could compete with the ostentatious luxury of the Palazzo Versace. That is also the average price of many 4 and 5 star Sydney hotels. Sydney accommodation is so expensive and you may not always get what u pay for.
From my experience, within Australia – Gold Coast hotels offer the most value for money as the Gold Coast hospitality industry is pretty competitive. I have found Gold Coast hotels to be cheaper than the Sunshine Coast, Sydney and Perth.
So I booked the standard room at half price. 2 days later, Palazzo Versace gave me the option to upgrade to their lagoon suite for an extra $150. The lagoon suite normally costs $1K+ per night!! I accepted their offer. I was so thrilled that I could get the suite at more than half price because it was truly a once in a lifetime experience. Laura and I felt like queens!!! We were just so spoilt!!!
I managed to get really cheap flights to the Gold Coast as well through the Jetstar sale, and the savings I made through my plane tickets covered my accommodation costs at the Palazzo Versace. Obviously I did have to slum it through my red eye flight and my back felt awful afterwards – but well it was worth it.
If you ever get the chance to stay at the Palazzo Versace, do it. Keep an eye out on their Facebook page or other travel websites, I have noticed that they offer good deals from time to time – you may just be able to snap something up during off peak season!
Hopefully one day I will return back here for my honeymoon!
For the remainder of my QLD holiday, I stayed in humbler premises – a shipping container to be exact! Stay tuned!
**Please note that this post has not been sponsored by the Palazzo Versace in any way. I just really loved my experience here and wanted to share it.
